Tour of Leicestershire

This is the route we took and it makes a nice drive in your TR and the chance to take in some of Leicestershire’s countryside.

Welcome to the second Leicestershire TR Group “Tour of Leicestershire”.

Last time we visited some of the more scenic areas of East Leicestershire, this time we will take in some of the more interesting places in the West of the County before finishing at the Red Lion in Huncote.

I will apologize in advance for any errors in the suggested route, as it is a few years old now. Please remember that it is just a suggested route and feel free to deviate if that is what you wish to do. You can have a picnic lunch at Calke Abbey or a bite to eat in the cafe. It may be worth checking the opening times of the Abbey House and the grounds as these vary. There is no point rushing on the first part of the tour. In the afternoon we will head south to Bosworth Battlefield Visitor Centre. (Again, check opening times) there should be ample time for a coffee and to look around. After this the final section of the tour takes us to its finish in Huncote, which is just off the B4114 (Fosse way) and allows easy access to the M69, M1 (J21) and to the A5.
