Meeting notes

Derbyshire weekends

As reported previously, everyone had a fantastic time on both the Derbyshire weekends.  One was organised by Tony and Ruth (which I know about cos I also went J), and there was also another one (which I didn’t go on and for which I have no details).  Trouble is, we’ve not had a write-up for either and we’re all agog for the goss!

We tried to convince Tony that he’d be “safe” letting Ruth know that we’d volunteered her to do a write-up on “their” Derbyshire weekend - but he was strangely reluctant.  Chicken!  PLEA to Ruth - would you mind doing a write-up for us please?

See the back of TRipe for some photos.

Irene promised to do one for the “other ” Derbyshire weekend - thanks.

International

Photos in the International Appendix (to keep the file size down) - enjoy!

There was lots of discussion and planning for this event, including checking that Paul had organised his ovine friend to accompany him on the journey to Malvern!

At the time of writing, the International has taken place and, as ever, it was a fantastic event.  We weren’t quite so down on female numbers as last year.  Girls attending were Jennie Holyoak, Sue Faulkner, Vivienne Cutting, Kathryn Morris, Sandra (John Soffe’s other half), Heather Hodgson, Danni (James’s girlfriend), and Martha (Will’s girlfriend).  (Sorry if I’ve forgotten anyone).  Also, Dani and Derek Bramford came for the day but those of us who were doing the sights of Tewksbury missed them.

The weather was scorching all day Friday, Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon.  Between times it rained - “and how” at times!

There was a bus trip to Tewkesbury this year and Sue, Vivienne and Jennie went for the afternoon, and James and Danni visited for a couple of hours in the morning.  I think the TR Register realised that there are only so many times you can go to Worcester.

It was an OK town.  It’s very small and has no large shops at all.  There are some quite nice black and white buildings but nothing shouted out “photograph me”.  However, we didn’t visit the Abbey which we believe is beautiful.  That said, Sue, Vivienne and Jennie had a really great time, despite getting soaked.  The youngsters weren’t quite so enamoured though.  I think we might need to suggest somewhere else for next year.  Any ideas anyone?

This write-up is very biased towards how we ladies enjoyed ourselves so could someone do us a full write-up on the International  for the next TRipe - PLEASE.

Tim Collins came in his latest restoration project - a TR2.  He’s done it in its original colours - Ice Blue paintwork and geranium interior.  It looks stunning and the colour combination is magic.  He was entered into the Concors but we don’t know at this point how he did.  He said it would be the best time to enter the car as it had only done 200 miles since its rebuild!   Photos (and results of the Concors) please Tim!

However, one of the best items of the weekend was the trip to the Morgan factory on the Friday morning.  This was a real treat.  I think I’ll leave it at that for now and ask someone to do us a proper write-up for the next TRipe please.  I have included quite a few pictures taken during the tour - see the Morgan Appendix.

Club shirts, etc

Paul came up trumps and got nearly all the shirts we ordered in time for the weekend.  Unfortunately, some were delivered in the wrong size in the rush but they are being replaced with the correct sizes.  The quality is excellent and everyone looks very smart in them.

At 2pm on the Saturday, the Leicester group went into the main arena - and everyone wore their LTRG shirts.  Very impressive!  Thanks to Tim S for the photo - see the International Appendix.

Prices:

men’s shirt                 21.50

ladies’ shirt                 20.50

men’s teeshirt            13.50

These prices include a £1.50 per item contribution to LTRG funds.  Payments to Rachael please - NOT Paul.

Classic Le Mans

I believe this was a good weekend but everyone was unusually quiet about it.  However, David Guzzetta is doing us a write-up for the next TRipe.

If you didn’t go on the trip and fancy a taster of what it’s like, Chris Hale has put a 6 minute video on the Triumph Forum website of the 2005 event.

David Guzzetta also has a video of this year’s event and it was suggested that we have a video evening during the winter to watch this.  (Sounds like one for the chaps eh girls?!!)

Misc

1.         There were two LTRG cars in the last TR Action - Tim Sharp’s and John Edward’s.  Great J

2.         Everyone was asked to hold 30th September aside in their diaries for a celebration of Irene’s “21st“ birthday.  The party will be somewhere in the region of Stoney Stanton where they live.  Watch this space.

This has now been arranged for 8th August.  The cost is £100 so we need 20 people to make it viable (at a fiver per head).  At the moment, we have 17 so please let Martin Ward know if you would like to be added to the list.
