Meeting notes

*** DIARY CHANGE ***

Please note that the Summer BBQ at Dave & Dawn Guzzetta’s is now to be held on 12th August.

PHOTO SHOOT - 13th June

There’s to be a photoshoot at Stoney Cove on 13th June at 8pm.  LTRG has TS2 that night and we need lots of cars for a photoshoot with it.  We are keen to get a full complement of marques if possible.  There was lots of discussion about who could go with which car so I think this issue is mostly sorted.  However, if you weren’t at the meeting and want to go along in your TR, please give it a bit of a buff up and come along.

We’re eating at Nemo’s, the restaurant at Stoney Cove after the shoot so if you were at the last meeting, please give Reg and Irene a bell to let them know you’ll be eating.

As the photoshoot is taking place at Stoney Cove Diving Centre, there were several options of a future for TS2 suggested at the meeting, eg “didn’t know TS2 floats”, and “a feature wreck for divers”!!!  No names no pack drill though …

June meeting

Just to say that Martin W will be otherwise engaged and he has employed the good services of our esteemed Deputy Leader, Ruth, to run the June meeting.

July meeting

Jennie and Andy will be sunning themselves somewhere in the Southern Aegean (shame, but someone has to do it!) at the July meeting so we need a volunteer to be Scribe for the meeting and the subsequent TRipe.

Martin W had some ideas so we’re passing that over to you, chuck J

Shoe Boxes

Irene and her sister are organising Christmas shoe boxes which will be sent to needy individuals in other countries.  I’ve typed out a list of suggestions for the contents and have attached it at the end of TRipe.

If you would like to join in this, then please feel free to do as many as you wish and let Irene have them.  At the moment I don’t know when they would need to be ready by but my guess is that it would be well before Christmas.

“The Best TR Group in the UK

Martin decided to announce that he thought we were “the best TR Group in the UK” at the meeting.  A very nice sentiment indeed, and one originally coined by Dick when he was Esteemed Leader a couple of years or so back.

I’m not sure there was any reason as such behind Martin’s “announcement” but it gave me a lovely warm glow to know that I’m part of it ……just off to throw up!!! L

Right then … yukky gooey comments over and done with now (thank goodness I hear you all say).  I expect if there was a “reason” behind Martin’s announcement maybe he will be kind enough to let us know when he’s next back in the saddle.

Ladies’ Lingerie

Barry Wingfield joined LTRG at the last meeting.  Mind you, I don’t know whether to be delighted or appalled at the reason behind his decision on which group to join.  Apparently, he’d heard about our leaning towards ladies’ lingerie and wanted to be part of it!!  Good grief, Rachael, your knickers are obviously famed near and VERY far!

Seriously, Barry, whatever reason you had, welcome to you J

By the way, may we also extend a hearty welcome to James Inder and Roger Corbitt, both of whom gave us their details at the last meeting.

Paul’s Hog Roast

Photographic evidence at the end!

Which reminds me, Paul will be trekking up the Andes as I type this copy of TRipe.  On behalf of us all, Martin W did try to encourage him to be a little less “adventurous” than normal and to take care.  Let’s hope he took our good wishes to heart and comes back with everything in full working order and with no broken bits!

Group Raids

There was a raid on Staffs & Warks last month.  Paul Hogan is the Group Leader there but I gather he’s not a man for detail so it was a challenge getting the relevant information in order for LTRG to join their ranks.  However, the usual LTRG raiders are not men of weak mettle so find out they did and four LTRG TRs joined S&W for the evening.  As an aside, Staffs & Warks had only one TR at the meeting so we swelled their ranks by 400%.

Norfolk Weekend

The Norfolk Weekend is taking place NOW!  And, guess what, the weather has been fab here in the Midlands.  No idea what it’s been like in East Anglia, but let’s hope they’ve had some of our sunshine.

IMPORTANT REQUEST   Could someone do a report for next month’s TRipe please and let us have some photos.

Welsh Weekend (Traws Cambria)

I gather that, as usual, a fantastic time was had by all.  Ruth has done a report and sent some pictures so please see that later in TRipe.

All I could pick up at the meeting was that Reg had seen a puma (???!!!) and that the TomTom Satnav broke so they used AnnAnn Satnav instead (Ann Skinner).  Very clever play on words you lot.

Race Meetings

As there are no local meetings this year it has been suggested that some of us might like to get together and go off to a track which is further afield, eg Castle Coombe.

There were so many comments flying around the room saying there weren’t any races this year that I think this should be discussed again at the June meeting.

Sweet Charity

There are two tickets available for this production - well, there were as at the last meeting.  If you think you might like to go and use these tickets up, then talk to Rachael.

European Trip - Italy (meeting), Greece (tour)

There are some vacancies for the above this year.  If anyone thinks they might like to make a last minute decision and go, then please refer to TR Action or contact the Register.

American Excellence!

Heather & Pete sent us this note and link.

“NPR (National Public Radio) in the American equivalent to the BBC.  On a Saturday morning Peter and I used to love listening to a program called Car Talk.  It was hosted by two brothers from Massachusetts

Listeners would telephone in with their car questions, sometimes mechanical, and Tom and Ray would diagnose the problem.  The majority of the time the program is hilarious – I even remember Patsy Goodie enjoying it.

The program is now available for free download and we’d heartily recommend our group members listening.  The link is http://cartalk.com/content/showpodcast/
